Well-Being on a Plate
Boosting health and well-being with raw foods
Around the world, people have been taken by storm by the new trend of health and well-being over the past few years. With that, there has been more and more demand for healthy eating options.
Along with vegetarian and gluten-free diets, people have now realized the benefits of eating food with pure, natural ingredients, that haven’t lost some of their nutrients due to heating while cooking. This new trend is called raw food.
Although more well-known in different corners of the world, such as Australia, California and Sweden, Raw ‘n More’s Ebba Aminoff was determined to bring this trend of pure, fresh food over to Finland as well.
Raw ‘n More offers a wide range of sweet and savoury raw foods that are a healthy and natural alternative to meals and treats you find in usual cafés. The food is a combination of fresh, unprocessed ingredients and tasty flavors.
The focus is on top notch ingredients which are prepared in under 42 degrees, preserving all the nutrients of the ingredients and strengthening their flavors.
Moreover, all of their mouth-watering meals are gluten and dairy free, making the café’s selection a real feast to people with allergies or dietary restrictions. “People’s expressions when tasting the food for the first time are priceless. Many wonder how food can taste like this,” said Ebba.
From dream to reality
The idea started with Ebba’s personal interest and experience in raw food and the lifestyle connected to it. Healthy eating and wellbeing have always been close to Ebba’s heart, so she decided to join forces with her close friend Camilla Kaarla.
Together the two began doing raw food workshops at home. At every workshop, they would cook and enjoy raw food together, always wondering why such treats could not be found at any cafés in the area. This sparked the idea of a raw food café of their own.
Not knowing for certain whether or not the trend would take off the same way it has in other countries, the only thing left to do was to gather the courage to take a leap of faith and start up the first raw food café in Finland. “We felt that it was now or never,” said Ebba.
One of the toughest parts of building up the business was finding the right premises. Having a space that fit the company values and image was important to Ebba from the start. She wanted the café to be an oasis where people could come and relax from the hustle and bustle of the busy urban life of the city. After finding the perfect space through a stroke of good luck, it started to look like Ebba’s dream had started to come true.
Serving well-being
From the get go, Ebba wanted the café to be a place people felt good and at home in. Well-being is the main thing on the menu, both in food and in spirit.
Moreover, as the food they serve is fresh, pure and natural, Ebba wanted the atmosphere to complement the food. The brick walls, asphalt and cars one could see through the windows of the café did the opposite, which is why the space craved for green, natural elements. “Natural food should be served in a natural environment,” thought Ebba.
The solution to raising the game in terms of well-being came in the form of a Naava smart green wall. A green wall was something that had been considered for the space ever since the beginning, but it wasn’t until Ebba found out about Naava that she decided that was the extra element she had been waiting for to make the decor and feel of the space match the food.
Natural food should be served in a natural environment.
Match made in heaven
Naava did not only make the place look nature-like, but it also made it feel as fresh as a forest. Prior to having the Naava, Ebba recalled the air quality having been very stuffy, especially in the mornings. Now, even the customers have taken note of how fresh the air inside the café feels.
The smart green wall has been a real eye-catcher: according to Ebba, people talk about it daily, eager to know more about how it works and how the plants grow or are maintained. “If I can keep it alive, anyone can,” stated Ebba. “The Naava Service team always shows up quick when help is needed and answers any and all questions about the Naava.”
A living plant brings people closer to nature among all the stone and asphalt of urban city scenery.
Now Ebba feels that the food and feel of the café go hand in hand, providing the customers with the best possible wellbeing experience of pure, fresh and natural food and air. “I believe nature is important in all aspects of life. That is why our food isn’t processed or fake, but everything we make is authentic,” emphasized Ebba. Thus, having a Naava bringing pure, natural air indoors has been a great fit with Raw ‘n More.
