Naturvention to Represent Finnish Cleantech Expertise
Naturvention to represent Finland with 9 other nominees in a global cleantech competition.
The Later Stage Awards is organized by Global Cleantech Cluster Association and is one of the world’s best known cleantech-competitions. The competition has now reached the stage where country level nominees are selected. So called “later stage” cleantech companies from ten different categories, representing various clean technology industries such as waste management, sustainable building, transport and energy efficiency, are now competing for first place in this global competition.
Naturvention is now competing in the category of BioEnergy and BioMaterials. The other companies in Finland’s shortlist are Wirepas (Sustainable IT-solutions), Aidon (Sustainable IT-solutions), Easy Led (Lighting and Energy Efficiency), Greenled (Lighting and Energy Efficiency), Enersize (Lighting and Energy Efficiency), Optiwatti (Energy Storage and Smart Grid), Nuukasolutions (Energy Storage and Smart Grid), Linkker (Transportation) and RePack (Waste Management).
The Finnish Cleantech companies have been previously successful in the competition, and have been among the top companies in their categories. In June, Eniram, the winner of its category in 2012, gained the attention of media when Wärtsilä bought the company for 43 million euros.
“Finland’s strong cleantech industry is in a phase of high growth and internationalization. Later Stage Awards is an excellent channel to make these innovative Finnish companies known globally. Investors pay special attention to the shortlisted companies,” says Program Leader of Cleantech Finland Jussi Vanhanen.
“This year we faced challenges in choosing the ten most promising and interesting nominees from all the great growth companies out there. Finland’s strength is clearly seen in energy efficiency and in smart grid services and solutions.”
During the next few months the achievements, innovativeness and business models of the companies are carefully observed. From the shortlisted companies 30 will continue their way to the final stage of the competition, where the final say belongs to international investors. The winners of each category are announced on the 11th of December in the United States.
“This nomination is a great recognition of our journey from a developing prototype to our work today. The nomination is hugely encouraging. It’s great to share this honour with nine other innovative companies. Looking at this group, the future of Finland’s cleantech expertise looks bright and promising.” says our CEO Aki Soudunsaari.
What is Global Cleantech Cluster Association?
Global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA) creates procedures for companies to help them utilize the benefits of the international cleantech-cluster community. Through participation, the companies have an opportunity to meet potential investors, reach new markets and meet influential networks, as well as gain access to technology resources and best-practices.
