Growth Trainee at Naturvention, part 2
Aino Borg & Tatu Kokkonen, Growth Trainees at Naava
Aino, Design Trainee
Aino Borg, a student of industrial design, did her internship in Naturvention’s product development team. Aino also worked on her thesis during her internship.
“The internship was a great experience: I’ve worked with tasks that match my studies and my team really relied on me. I got my own responsibility but also a lot of support from my team leader,” remembers Aino.
“For me the best thing was to have a chance to test my own ideas and also see how the ideas become a reality. I’ve now gained experience from many areas in my field of studies, like modelling, visualizing and subcontracting. I couldn’t even wish to learn so much in six months,” says Aino.
Working in our manufacturing plant in Jyväskylä, the product development team has tight connections to other teams, like the plant and manufacturing team.
“It is great to have an effortless relationship with other teams because we all have our own role and special expertise which has to be taken in account when designing new products,” says Aino.
Aino continues her career at Naturvention after her internship as an Industrial Designer.
“I’m very happy to work here, a lot is going on all the time so it’s never boring here. I feel also respected here which feels good. And if you have something to ask from someone, everyone is willing to help you,” tells Aino.
Tatu, Manufacturing Trainee
Naava smart green walls are professionally hand-crafted premium products. The manufacturing trainees take part in assembling Naavas, designing new components and assisting also other teams in our factory, like plant and design teams.
Naturvention was an obvious choice for Tatu Kokkonen, a student of health technology from the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. “In my field of studies Naturvention and it’s Naavas are well-known, since the company is one of the healthtech pioneers in Finland,” tells Tatu.
Manufacturing trainees build up smart green walls from components to Naavas.
For Tatu one of the best things in his internship has been the right balance between teamwork and own responsibility. His own team helped a lot in the beginning, because there is a lot to learn about the unique product and technology. Tatu enjoyed the chance to challenge himself.
“At school you focus in the theory, the practical experience is something you’ll learn when working. This has been an amazing chance to see what I’ve learned at school and to bring that knowledge into the practice,” tells Tatu.
During his internship Tatu has noticed to in himself “a mindset of an engineer”.
“I guess that is a strong sign of how much I’ve learned here. There are some totally new things I’ve learned, like scheduling the production and how to locate so called “bottlenecks” in production processes. I’m sure these skills will be very useful in the future,” considers Tatu.
