7 Hints on How to Survive a Day at a Fair
I'm a survivor, I'm gonna make it - but how?
1. Remember to drink!
Dehydration is a common reason for fatigue. Take care of your fluid balance and you’ll stay energetic through the long fair day. Coffee and energy drinks may give momentary energy, but water is the most effective thirst-quencher. By sipping water, you are also spared from beauty care on a fair morning: water keeps your skin cells resilient and soft, and nourishes your hair.
2. Get some fresh air
Spare some time from the fair rush to relax in clean, fresh air. Fair centers lure in a lot of people and after spending a longer time indoors, you might begin to feel uncomfortable.
Just a 15 minute break in fresh air enhances the spirit and ability to concentrate. There is a Human-recharge spot at the Energy fair in Tampere, where you can enjoy a natural fresh air of the Naava-greenwalls indoors.
3. Go in with prime company
If possible, choose the best possible crew with you to the fair. And be the best possible person yourself so that others will enjoy the long day with you.
4. Wear comfortable shoes
10 cm heels are definitely impressive, but after the first hour you will probably regret your choice to invest in looks instead of comfort. Maybe you could make an impressive entrance in party shoes and after that secretly sneak to a toilet to change into more comfortable sneakers? Nasty chafes on your heels can be patched up with plaster, so you should take some Compeed with you.
5. Eat well and nutritiously
Normal nutrition guidelines apply here: eat versatile foods, lots of vegetables and a little bit of fast carbohydrates, and you’ll have the energy to roam through the entire fair day. On the other hand, why would it be any easier to follow these rules during a fair? If you don’t follow these guidelines in your everyday life, it’s unlikely that you would follow them during fairs either.
6. Take your time - don’t rush
A schedule by the minute doesn’t fit in well with the fair atmosphere. You can go shopping tomorrow too. When there isn’t enough time for everything, focus on the thing that matters most and leave all the stress out of your sight.
7. Gear up with a good attitude
Your feet will probably get tired during the fair day, your shoes will chafe, you’ll eat badly and you have to queue for everything: to the toilets, cloakroom, for food... So here, like in so many other situations as well, the right attitude is what matters!
